O Secretário-geral da CGTP-IN enviou uma carta ao Primeiro Ministro da Grécia, Lucas Papademos, que a seguir se transcreve, expressando solidariedade com a prolongada greve na siderurgia grega e apelando à tomada urgente de medidas por parte do governo grego, de forma a encontrar uma solução para a situação e para que seja posto fim aos despedimentos e cortes salariais na empresa, garantindo o emprego permanente e com direitos para os seus trabalhadores. |

Excelência, Há mais de 100 dias que 400 trabalhadores da empresa de siderurgia grega “Halivourgia” se encontram em greve em protesto contra cortes salariais e despedimentos. Esta corajosa ação dos trabalhadores siderúrgicos tem lugar num momento em que se desenvolve uma ofensiva contra as condições de vida e de trabalho dos trabalhadores da Grécia, de Portugal, mas também de outros países europeus, nomeadamente através de pacotes de austeridade impostos pelo Fundo Monetário Internacional, pelo Banco Central Europeu e pela União Europeia. O exemplo de luta e resistência dos trabalhadores da Halivourgia está a inspirar as lutas dos trabalhadores na Europa e em todo o mundo. Tal como nós em Portugal, estão em luta para defender o trabalho com direitos, condições de trabalho dignas, contra o empobrecimento e as medidas recessivas e por uma mudança de política com crescimento económico e justiça social. Ao declarar a plena solidariedade da CGTP-IN – a maior central sindical de Portugal – aos trabalhadores da Halivourgia e à luta mais geral dos trabalhadores gregos contra a ingerência externa e as medidas antissociais, apelamos a que o governo grego intervenha rapidamente para que seja imediatamente reposto o respeito pelos direitos dos trabalhadores da Halivourgia. Neste contexto, consideramos que o seu governo deve rapidamente agir para fazer aplicar as normas internacionais do trabalho, pondo fim aos cortes salariais e despedimentos ilegais na siderurgia e encontrar uma solução para a grave situação de forma a garantir o direito destes trabalhadores a empregos permanentes e seguros. Your Excellency, For over 100 days, 400 workers of the “Halivourgia” Greek steel plant have been striking against wage cuts and dismissals. This brave action of the steel workers is happening at a moment in which the attacks on workers’ living and working conditions of Greece, of Portugal but also of other European countries are taking place, namely through packages of austerity imposed by the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Union. The example of struggle and resistance of the Halivourgia workers is inspiring the struggles of the workers in Europe and the world over. They are fighting, as we are also in Portugal, in defence of jobs with rights, dignified working conditions, against impoverishment and recessive measures and for a change of political course, with economical growth and social justice. In declaring the full solidarity of the CGTP-IN – the largest trade union centre of Portugal – to the Halivourgia workers and to the broader struggle of the Greek workers against foreign interference and anti-social measures, we call on the Greek government to act swiftly so that respect for the Halivourgia workers’ rights is immediately reinstated. In this context, we consider that your government should act to quickly implement international labour standards, put an end to the illegal wage cuts and dismissals in the steel plant and find a solution to this serious situation, ensuring the right of these workers to permanent and steady jobs.
